Tribute to A-Wall

I have received several reports that Austin Wallace’s knee injury will sideline him for the remainder of the season. Not only that, but it would appear that due to the serious nature of the injury, multiple operations will be necessary, possibly ruling out next season as well.

After his redshirt year last season, and now possibly two seasons of inactivity, I feel very sorry for Austin and what this means for his career at Pitt. His short playing time this season (12 minutes) could be all that he gets, unless he were to stay and return to action in his senior year. It might be possible for him to qualify for a medical redshirt for this season, but I don’t know how likely that would be.

Wallace has been lauded by Coach Dixon on many occasions for having one of the biggest hearts and best attitudes on the team. He is a hard worker and gives a great positive energy in each game.

As such a young player, with so much hope of improving and getting more playing time, this has to be just devastating. I think it would be great for the Zoo to let Austin know that we appreciate all he has done in the short time he has been here.

Please leave a comment after this post and then after a while I’ll send it to him.

Austin-Hope you get better quickly- we need that energy back on the team, it was great to watch you get the Panthers hyped up pregame and I hope you can keep it going throughout the season.-Josh Verlin

Austin, good luck to you and get well soon.By the way, A-Wall will still have 2 years of eligibility left even if he does miss this season and all of next season. Also, I would have to think that he could get a medical redshirt and be granted even another year of eligibility if he missed 2 full years.
